Research Notes & Reviews
Research Notes contain work in progress: a question being clarified, evidence being reviewed, a field observation being documented, a design assumption being examined, or an interpretation being revised.
They are not automatically scientific papers and are not assumed to be peer reviewed. A strong note should make its status, evidence level, alternative explanations, and uncertainty visible.
Each note remains canonical here because Research Note describes its epistemic and editorial status. Project and subject indexes provide additional discovery without moving or duplicating the page.

What Should Vocora Measure as Learning? — Separates practice activity, current performance, and longer-term retention, and defines what Vocora should and should not call learning.
Retrieval Practice in Vocora — Reviews what retrieval practice can support, what it does not prove, and how the mechanism is currently used in Vocora.
Spaced Practice and the Leitner System — Distinguishes the general spacing effect from the practical but not yet optimized schedule used by Vocora.
Ethical Gamification in Vocora — Defines autonomy, motivation, privacy, and evidence guardrails for goals, streaks, progress feedback, and sharing.
These notes are also discoverable in All Writing and, when connected to the project, Vocora Publications & Notes.
Human Learning, Leadership & Transformation
یادگیرنده واقعاً به چه چیزی متعهد است؟ تعهد بهمثابه بافتار یادگیری — فارسی · What Are Learners Actually Committed To? Commitment as a Context for Learning — English — A field-based inquiry into how the object of a learner’s commitment may organize attention, resource seeking, persistence, and project-based learning.
Can the Learner Carry the Context? — A source-based inquiry into reflective practice, double-loop learning, coaching, and the capacity to continue learning across changing contexts.
قانون هب و شکلگیری تداعیها — A cautious conceptual note on Hebbian learning, association, and the limits of using one neural principle to explain emotion or behavior.
پروتکل ژورنالنویسی — A source-based note on expressive writing, narrative construction, difficult experiences, emotion regulation, and claims made for the Pennebaker journaling protocol.
- Can the Learner Carry the Context? — A reading and inquiry note on reflective practice, double-loop learning, coaching, and learning that remains available across changing contexts.
- What Remains When the Course Ends? — A ten-day exploratory observation on whether leadership learning remains available across changing work and life contexts.
These notes are also collected in Selected Research-Related Work.
Common Note Types
Inquiry Note
A bounded examination of a question, why it matters, what evidence is available, and what remains uncertain. It should read as a complete note rather than a status update or research plan.
Field Note
A structured account of a real setting such as a class, coaching relationship, organization, facilitated group, or product. It must distinguish direct observation, participant self-report, and the author’s interpretation.
Literature Review
A review of published evidence that identifies the population, task, comparison, outcome, limitations, and the distance between the source finding and the current practical setting.
Design Note
A record of a project or program decision, the assumptions behind it, alternatives considered, and how the decision could be evaluated.
